Water scarcity affects more than 40% of the world's population, and this percentage is expected to increase significantly in the coming decades due to the increase of the proper world’s population, and due to the effect of climate change on the planet. 3 out of 10 people lack access to safe drinking water services and 4 billion people lack access to basic sanitation services, such as toilets or latrines. Every day, around 1000 children die from illnesses associated with poor hygiene. More than 80% of waters end up in rivers or seas without any treatment, causing their contamination. Faced with these shocking data, the 2030 agenda includes Sustainable Development Goal 6, directly related to clean water and sanitation, whose aim is to alleviate this situation and to be able to guarantee the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all of us.
This last year and because of the current health crisis that we are experiencing, water as a resource is becoming a good, if possible, even more necessary for everyone. It is a fundamental active element to fight against COVID 19, and such daily acts as disinfection and cleaning or washing hands, up to three million people in the world cannot perform them.
Molecor collaborates with Sustainable Development Goal 6 only because of the nature of the company. The company's activity is developed around two main axes: the development and manufacture of increasingly efficient systems and the manufacture of Oriented PVC (PVC-O) pipes and fittings, with the aim of building safer and more secure hydraulic networks, and, to reduce the number of people who care of hygienic that manage to supply the whole world.
According to the 2030 agenda, among the goals of SDG 6, one purpose is achieving the availability and access to adequate water, sanitation and hygiene services for all, and another, reducing considerably the number of people who suffer lack of water. With these two goals, we would be able to preserve the health and well-being of millions of people.

Improving water quality by avoiding contamination is another possible way for Molecor to be a participant in ODS6 thanks to the fact that Oriented PVC is immune to corrosion, thus avoiding the transfer of oxides and metals to water, which, in the event of Drinking water can become a public health problem if the required quality parameters are exceeded. Even its high chemical resistance to external agents makes it possible to use fertilizers and phytosanitary products in irrigation infrastructures, being also resistant to the disinfectants commonly used in drinking water supply networks.
